Hello Lovelies,
I'm unleashing. I'm releasing! Letting it all out and go as I continue to FLOW!
No More Sleeping with the Enemy
Part 2: The Cost of Professional Soul Ties
By Lady Erin Love
I’ve done it too many times. You probably have too.
Showed up with excellence. Delivered brilliance. Covered cracks that weren’t mine to fill. Spoke up while others stayed quiet. Stayed when I should’ve exited.
Why?
Because the mission looked like mine. Because the leaders looked like me. Because the dream felt familiar.
But here’s the truth: I was sleeping with the enemy. Not literally—energetically. Contractually. Strategically. Emotionally. Spiritually.
And it almost cost me everything.
The Seduction of Being “Chosen”
There’s something intoxicating about being invited into the inner circle of an organization “on the rise.” You’re told your voice matters. Your leadership is needed. Your ideas are revolutionary.
Until you actually start leading.
Until your clarity exposes confusion. Your integrity highlights inconsistency. Your boundaries interrupt their manipulation.
Then suddenly, you’re “difficult.” You’re “not a team player.” You’re too loud, too visible, too… free.
When Loyalty Becomes Self-Betrayal
I gave more than what was required. Covered roles that weren’t mine. Brought solutions they didn’t pay for. Even protected their brand when they weaponized silence against my professionalism.
I was loyal to a vision they never intended to honor.
Because truth be told—some people only value you as long as they can control you. As long as your glow benefits their shadows. As long as you don’t outgrow the box they built for you.
It’s Not Burnout. It’s Betrayal.
What I felt wasn’t just fatigue. It was betrayal—disguised as collaboration.
There’s nothing more destabilizing than realizing the very people you built with never planned to build with you. They built on you. Used your labor. Your name. Your peace.
But no more.
I’ve Reclaimed My Power
I walked away with my receipts, my reputation, and my radical resolve intact.
I’m not dragging names. I’m exposing patterns.
I’m not asking for pity. I’m reclaiming power.
Because this isn’t just my story—it’s a system. A mirror. A message. And it ends here.
You don’t have to stay loyal to betrayal. You don’t have to keep covering for chaos. You don’t have to keep legitimizing what dishonors you.
From now on, I serve vision with integrity. I partner where there is reciprocity. I build where I am valued.
No more sleeping with the enemy.
